Gar'is Hostel Lviv

The location is excellent, just a short walk from the main square, and the rooms are nice. It was one of the cleanest hostels I've stayed in. The weak point was the Wi-Fi: it only worked in the kitchen, and sometimes on the first floor, but the signal was weak everywhere. Better Wi-Fi would make a difference, since I think hostels should pay attention to it.

The design and furniture were lovely, and the staff were helpful and pleasant. The air conditioning worked very well, which mattered because our room for two felt stuffy at first. In the evening, the shared bathroom wasn't as clean as it had been during the day, though it was still okay. The double bed seemed old or poorly made and gave me back pain.

There was off-street courtyard parking for my motorcycle, which is always a bonus. The hosts were warm, accommodating, and spoke good English. It's a great location and a nice space. My only small criticism is that there wasn't much of a community feel, at least on the night I stayed.

The staff were good and the place was clean. They even booked me a spot at Gar'is Hostel Kyiv and wrote out the train translation for me. I found the hostel after spending a few days in Lviv and stayed about two weeks, I think. My four-bed dorm room was a good size with a good locker, but it got hot. Hostels around Europe should consider ceiling or window fans to keep air moving. The toilets are limited, though that only caused a real problem on a few mornings. There's a washing machine, but no dryer and not much room to hang clothes. I suggested putting clotheslines outside the room window, since that's normal in the area. Street traffic is why it loses the other star.
