Old City Hostel

I stayed here maybe ten times before 2019, but things have really gone downhill over the last three years. Service is handled by what I called the TikTok generation, and they seem not to care. They're on their phones all the time, forget keys, and lock you out. They blamed me for leaving my luggage for a few hours after checkout, though I consider that normal. I was given the coldest rooms available. There's a war going on, but we can go to other countries and get better service. I tried twice to reach the owner through customer service and the so-called administrator Oleh. The fake receptionist wouldn't give me that number, of course. Avoid this place until it's fixed.

The lounge and kitchen were really nice and had everything we needed. The rooms were very comfortable, though they can be a bit narrow, and the hosts speak English very well. The bathrooms were clean, and there was lots of equipment: an iron, hair dryer, washing and drying machine, fridge, cooker, and boiler.

The location is amazing, the staff are friendly, and having keys meant we could come and go as we pleased. The kitchen was good, with decent Wi-Fi, and the room was high enough up that the mosquito nets kept bugs to a minimum. The bathrooms are large, the showers always had hot water, and laundry was cheap, though it took about a day to dry. There's a fridge for guests and another for things you can buy from them. Keep anything you buy in bags in the fridge, though. Hostel mates stole my parfait, three drinks, chocolate, bread, cheese, and some pepperoni. The air conditioner is in the kitchen and leaked during my stay, so we could only use it for about ten minutes a day.

The room was nice, if a little cramped, and the atmosphere was very clean. It's right in the city center, with most sights very close to the hostel. A great spot to hang out in the evenings.
