Galian Hotel

For what I paid, I expected to be able to charge my phone and get some sleep. The AC kept me awake at night, and it isn’t even connected to your room. There’s just one place in the room to plug in your phone, so it hangs over the toilet by its charging cable. The staff are nice, competent, and good, but veeeeery slow. The hotel is in an unpleasant district with nothing to see, about 5km from a beach. The bathroom light switch is behind the door, so you have to come out and close the door before you can look for the right switch. That’s not a joke. Coffee costs extra at breakfast, and the bacon in the American Breakfast is about the size of a one dollar coin. Those are things they don’t mention in the advertisement, even though the claims they do make are true.

Awful place to stay.

I couldn’t get any rest here. The hotel is tucked into a courtyard among high-rise buildings, with street noise and commotion. A landline phone speaker switched on by itself a couple of times at night, and the TV went silent. When I reported it, they said the technician was away for a few days. I also couldn’t get online because there was no Internet. The room had dust everywhere for days, and it didn’t seem prepared for guests. There were strange smells from the kitchen, bathhouse, and cheap cologne, and the shower had fungus. Water rushing through the toilet’s sewer riser was very loud. The place feels shabby and unwelcoming, with a bad taste to the decor, as if it was put together from whatever was available. The interior seems stuck in the early 2000s. The building itself looks like a tsar-extension attached to a high-rise, in an incomprehensible shape.

The showers leak, the rooms are old, and the furniture could do with an update. Breakfasts leave much to be desired. The hotel is in a service station building, so there’s always noise.
