Hotel Shanghai Blues

For the price, the hotel is okay. The rooms are spacious and have air conditioning, and the location is handy, with several beaches, shops, and supermarkets nearby. The receptionists were very nice and helpful. There were quite a few problems in my double room: only one bath towel and one small hand or foot towel, no working Wi-Fi, and a refrigerator that didn't work (though you can leave groceries at reception). A crack under the front door let noise through, half the light bulbs were out, and the promised toiletries weren't there. Taking the room rates into account, I still recommend it.

The pillows are feather-filled, there was mold on the walls, and the rooms smelled of smoke and sewage. The mattresses were so worn down you could feel the springs. There's no no-smoking sign in the smoky room, despite what the administration says. Room prices stay fixed even when the air conditioner doesn't work or there's a stench. Could be an option if you have nowhere else to stay.

The restaurant food was good, and the room was reasonably clean. Still, for a hotel in this location, it feels very weak. There’s no Wi-Fi, and the sockets are badly placed. You can’t charge your phone from the bed, and there isn’t even a bedside table. The shower doors leak, so by the time I’d finished washing, water had spread across the bathroom and into the hall area. This might suit someone who’s driven all night and can’t manage a couple more kilometers, or someone whose car has been stuck around this hundred for a long time. Then you get all the perks)))

The room was warm, the AC worked, the mattresses were comfortable, and there was hot water. The staff were very friendly too. It’s fine for spending a night on a business trip, though you can still see traces of its former luxury, even with talk of updating the interior. Parking is a real problem: there’s hardly any, so you have to park by the road or in front of the repair bays, and get there early. There’s no café, bar, or food service anymore. The kitchen has been abandoned.
