Mozart Hotel

With the Opera right next door and a cozy restaurant, this is a great base for a visit to Odesa. The staff have real old-world charm and were more than fantastic with travelers.

I checked in late last night, and the receptionist said she’d upgraded me to a suite. She explained that the AC wouldn’t work while the generator was running but would come on when electricity was available. She didn’t mention that I had to switch it on manually, and I had no way to know when the power came back. Worse, there’s no AC at all in the suite’s bedroom. It’s 29 degrees in there while it’s 22 outside. I’m thoroughly disgusted and plan to leave at 5am, when curfew ends.

The entrance and lobby are beautiful, and the staff handled our questions and concerns professionally and politely. The hotel is in a great spot for getting around Odessa, though it isn’t wheelchair friendly. The building has been remodeled over the years, so room layouts and floor plans can be unusual. Rooms are popular and each one is different. I loved mine, but my friend didn’t like his as much, so ask for any particular features when booking if you have specific expectations. I’ve visited Odessa seven times, and this room was the best balance of features and cost for me. I’ll return.

A lovely hotel, with very clean, neat rooms and friendly staff who were helpful throughout my stay. It sits just inside the city center, so it’s easy to walk wherever you need to go in Odessa. Entertainment, food, and shopping are about a block away. I enjoyed my visit and highly recommend the Mozart.
