We’d agreed that I could either pay for another night or check out by noon, but on both days the manager knocked at 11:50 and was quite pushy. I’d also arranged in advance to leave my luggage after checkout. When I went to collect it, she first tried to charge me, then changed her mind and just threw me out. That might have made sense if I’d been obnoxious, but I wasn’t. I spoke very little, always politely, and used a translation app for our last exchange. I know some Ukrainian, but not Russian. The apartment was acceptable for the price, though at check-in the amount was suddenly 30% higher than what had been confirmed by phone. It was also pretty dirty: stains on the bedding, grimy tables and furniture, and sticky light switches, among other things. Overall, it wasn’t a very pleasant stay.

The location was good, and the staff were really helpful, though they couldn't speak English. My room was clean, but it had no window.

Rose d'Opera promises a memorable stay, with damp air and several kinds of mold thrown in for your lungs. The staff leave the room looking as though it hasn't been cleaned since the hotel opened. If exploring the macro and micro worlds of Odessa sounds appealing, this is the place. Rooms are limited, and reservations can't be refunded.

The constant damp was the main problem for me. Clothes and towels wouldn't dry and started smelling bad, so I had to leave the air conditioning running all the time. Otherwise, the humidity felt suffocating. The room itself looked great, was comfortable, and had all the amenities, including air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The shower and toilet were good too. The price was good, the location was great, and the staff were friendly. I only learned on arrival that check-in starts after 2:00 PM and checkout is before 12:00 PM, so I had to wait two hours for my room.
