The location in Truskavets is good, but the way Oscar handled our reservation was awful. I booked six large rooms over a month ahead for a company retreat, then the hotel canceled them on its own just three days before we were due to arrive. When I called, the receptionist said they canceled because Americans often reserve and then don’t show up. I asked why they were discriminating against Americans, and she defended the decision again. The next day they offered two twin rooms, which didn’t work for my company. Oscar gets my award for the most Russian hotel in Truskavets. If you miss Moscow, or want Russian-style service and to be turned away because of your nationality, book here.

The breakfast was good and included in the price, and the hotel seemed like good value. But the receptionist first quoted us 50€ for a room, even though we’d seen it listed on booking.com for 20€. He then offered 30€ instead. We turned that down and booked online. After that, he put us in what seemed like the worst room in the hotel, cold and underground, with no wifi.

The staff are very friendly, and there’s a more than adequate menu with a large outdoor terrace and occasional live music. Management also supports meetings and conferences, and hosts the local "meet the author" book events.

Reservations can be canceled, and the staff are unreliable. I can’t recommend this hotel. Find another place in Truskavets.
