We’d stayed here before and were quite happy, but coming back this year, I noticed a lot of small things that need attention. The room was tidy, the floors clean and the bathroom corners neat. Soap and shampoo were provided, and there was a large window. The location is excellent. Jem guests can get a discount at Mirotel SPA Hotel, though nobody at Jem told us. We found out at Mirotel, but needed a flyer that Jem was supposed to provide. When we asked the Gem receptionist, they refused to give us one. There were also some obvious maintenance and comfort issues. The shower stalls were broken and had just been rubbed over with white silicone, and there were yellow stains on the ceiling and walls from a leaking roof. Those yellowed parts surely could be replaced. The face towels were incredibly yellow. A small towel costs 40 hryvnia, but honestly, I didn’t feel comfortable drying my face with them, hands maybe, but not my face. The shower leaked so water ran out onto the floor, and we had to use one towel as a rag to clean it up. One bottle of still water in the minibar was overfilled and open. Maybe someone had drunk some, refilled it from the tap, and put it back. The bed linen was hard, and the mattress had sagged so much that whoever slept there fell into their own niche. There was no foot towel for getting out of the shower. There was a mat, but you had to step on it in the same wet slippers you wear in the shower, and I doubt they wash those after each guest. Slippers were provided, but they were foam, like packaging material, and not comfortable on bare feet.
