City Inn Lviv Smart Hotel

Pretty good.

The hotel itself is lovely: new, spotless, and luxurious, with no issues there. What lets it down is the staff and the noise. There seems to be no soundproofing at all, and the elevator keeps making noise. Please switch off its sound, since it disturbed our sleep. Someone was also shifting furniture around all night, and staff held loud training for new employees during breakfast, even with so many guests around. We had several problems with how staff handled things. At 1:00 AM on June 11, 2011, music from a car party in the hotel parking lot was playing under our windows. When we asked for it to be turned down, we were offered earplugs with, "I can bring you earplugs." We hadn't heard anything like that in a long time. It was just awful. The hotel is great, but the staff really doesn't measure up.

The room was clean, the shower was great, and the location is handy if you're travelling and don't want to drive into Lviv. But getting around the hotel is awkward, despite the listing saying there's an elevator. There are lots of steps, little stretches of them throughout the place, plus confusing corridors and inconvenient floor numbering. Even the entrance has a lot of steps. There's a platform staff can raise or lower with a button, but it only gives the illusion of accessibility. We booked a room with one large bed and got two mattresses instead. Also, there's a very loud alarm notification that hangs up right in the room. I couldn't find a way to switch it off. Parents of a small child might set a notification on their phone and take the sleeping child into the corridor, but this sound can ruin your sleep four times a night.

We really enjoyed our stay at City Inn. The location was convenient, and the rooms felt modern, clean, and nicely decorated. Staff were polite and always ready to help. Breakfast had plenty of tasty choices, and the atmosphere was peaceful and cozy. We came away with only good impressions and would happily return. Recommend it!
