Pelican City

There’s plenty of shade and clean paths across the grounds, with benches and lovely views. The fish dishes were good too. We also took a boat trip to see pelicans on the Black sea, which made our visit to Vilkovo and Pelican-Tour base especially enjoyable. A very pleasant place, and I’d recommend it.

The fried carp was especially tasty, and I also liked the pita with suluguni. The food overall is very good, though we had to wait a bit, even with few people there. Ordering felt a little unusual: you place the order first, then head to a gazebo, and the waiters didn’t speak Ukrainian and seemed very new to the job. The shop was closed, and you need to go through the administrator. There are old town tours lasting an hour, plus individual speedboat trips of an hour and a half. You can stay overnight, though I can’t say what the rooms are like since we didn’t stay. The road to the place isn’t very good. I do recommend the food.

The cottages are right by the water in a quiet spot on the river, and they have what you need for a comfortable stay. I liked the eco style, the cozy gazebos and dining room, and the excursions to Vylkove and the Danube Biosphere Reserve. We took a boat to Ermakiv Island and saw water buffaloes, Przewalski's horses, pelicans, and eagles. We hope to come back and take the excursions that are unavailable because of the war, including 0 kilometer. Highly recommend.

The locals recommended this as the best place to relax, and the owners even let us onto the grounds for free, which I appreciated most. There’s a lovely, well-kept lawn for children, and you can order food. They kindly showed us the rooms too. They looked worth the price, clean and fairly spacious for country houses.
