Lake Victoria Hotel

The food kept me looking forward to every meal. During my time here, the buffet for my group of colleagues offered a seemingly endless run of creative dishes, served right on time. I gained weight and don’t regret it. The pool, gym, and spa were clean and convenient places to unwind, and the staff maintained luxurious comfort with outstanding service and skill. I’m an American Peace Corps volunteer and spent a lot of time at this hotel during Uganda’s turbulent election season. If you want a therapeutic stop in the south of Uganda, especially before or after traveling through Entebbe International Airport, I wholeheartedly recommend at least enjoying a meal and a carefully made cocktail here. The grounds are well kept, with a fun outdoor pool and diving board, and there’s a free shuttle to the airport. Inside, the hotel is clean and the rooms are comfortable, with good mattresses, mosquito nets, a desk, TV, sitting area, and a spacious bathroom. The food was incredible. I had a wonderful stay and definitely recommend it.

There’s a large pool where you can jump from 5m, plus a quiet, green setting, an open restaurant, and an open area for kids. The rooms are good, and the ambience is great. Rates were $90 for single occupancy and $110 for double, with breakfast included. Two meals cost an extra $30. Just skip the iced coffee, it was awful!

Update, Sep 2025: This time I had a nice room and almost everything worked. The big pool is a real plus, and the cardio and weights room is good compared with many other hotels. Breakfast was a good buffet, with plenty of fresh fruit, pastries, hot dishes, and an egg station making omelettes, fried eggs, and more. The staff were very friendly. On my earlier stay, the hotel felt like it needed renovation, as it was built many decades ago. The location is lovely, with a large pool and garden that make it a good place to relax, but the rooms needed attention. My air conditioning still wasn’t fixed after I asked three times, the curtains needed washing, and the safe didn’t work. Breakfast was good apart from the lack of cheese, ham, and yoghurt. The staff were friendly then, too.
