Saffron Beach Bistro & Cottages

We booked a table and arrived on time, but there wasn't one available. The table we eventually got was set up without a direct lake view. After half an hour, we were told one of our dishes was no longer available, then waited another hour for the food. One of our two dishes was burnt, and complaining did nothing. The owner also refused to give us a formal invoice, saying the printer was down. I’d forget this restaurant. I hope someone checks the later positive reviews, which may have been written by the owner's own staff. There are much better Indian restaurants here.

I paid USD 160 for my stay at Saffron Beach House, and it felt like a complete rip-off. The room I booked and paid for was later downgraded, and although I was promised a better room and some relief after I complained, nothing happened. Manager Vandhana also presented a discount that seemed fake, by raising the price first and then pretending to reduce it. The room was dusty, dirty, and clearly neglected. Its old, sunken mattress made sleeping impossible. The shower barely worked, the Jacuzzi that persuaded me to book was useless, and there was no water at all on checkout day. I had to leave for the airport without bathing. Breakfast was awful too. I asked for vegetarian food and got beef sausages, which felt completely disrespectful and showed a lack of care. The service was pathetic for that price. The whole stay was a scam and a waste of my time and money. This hotel is a joke, and I’d strongly warn people against staying here.

The view was great, and I loved the whole fish. Best smoothies I’ve ever had!

The lake view is breathtaking, with birds, fishermen heading out, and plenty going on to keep things from feeling dull. The place itself is lovely and very clean, with comfy rooms and great staff. The food was really yummy too. They also host events like birthdays. Looking forward to staying again.
