Protea Hotel by Marriott Entebbe Hotel

The morning view over Lake Victoria made breakfast memorable. I watched the sun come up while the chef prepared an omelet at the buffet, a lovely finish to my stay. I had been in Room 115, an Executive Room with a balcony facing the lawn, palm trees, and fishermen on the lake. It was so peaceful. After a long international trip, the hotel was an easy transition from Entebbe Airport, about a mile away, and a driver was there with a placard bearing my name. I was too tired to go out, so I ordered room service. It arrived in under 30 minutes. The deep-fried Tilapia was fresh and well seasoned, the best I've had, and the fruit was ripe and delicious. The room was a comfortable place to recover. I loved the rainfall shower, and the king-size bed was so comfortable that I slept eight hours straight, unusual for me when traveling. The staff were professional and accommodating throughout. I'm looking forward to returning.

The location is excellent, but the hotel is in poor shape and badly maintained. Water ran out because my shower door wouldn't close properly. At check-in, the front desk gave me a room that was already occupied, then my key stopped working after the first night of my two-night stay. It took 15 minutes just to register and check me in. After all those problems, I was tired of talking to the staff. It seems efficiency isn't the norm anywhere in Uganda.

The lakefront setting is beautiful, and this hotel feels almost like a resort despite being close to Entebbe International airport. My room was lovely, the food was delicious and generous, and service was wonderful. The staff were kind, helpful, and professional. I wouldn't regret staying in this beautiful place.

Peter, the airport driver, took me to the airport to collect my delayed luggage and stayed with me while I waited. He was very helpful. Every staff member at the desk gave us great service too. The on-site restaurant was lovely, and our room was large and clean. There's a free airport shuttle.
