Afro Park Hotel

We chose Afropark for a night because it's in our neighborhood, and the reservation staff welcomed us with lovely smiles. The ambience was good too. We paid for executive room 304 for Monday night, but several things weren't working: the TV, kettle, WiFi, and bathroom water heater. There was no mosquito net, so we got bitten, and there were no bathroom robes either. I couldn't see what made the room executive or justified the price. It wasn't worth what we paid.

The open-air setting and wide Kampala views are lovely, and the place has plenty of potential. Sadly, the service killed our appetite before we even got to the food. The waitress seemed half asleep, spoke so quietly, and gave off such bad energy that I worried she might slap me for ordering. My friend and I had planned to get more, but I said no way after that. I've travelled a lot, love food, and know what good hospitality feels like. When front-of-house staff act as if they'd rather be elsewhere, it makes you wonder about the kitchen too. As a business owner, I can't understand this. Maybe the owners aren't around, or management is daydreaming. Afro Park has a lovely setting, but the execution is tragic.

The meals are good, and it's one of my favourite places. Service was poor on Saturday, though, especially from the rude waitress.

Our event went beautifully, thanks in part to Manager Sanoj, who helped us pull it off perfectly. The whole staff was helpful and well trained, and we really appreciated that. The food was delicious, and our guests said so too. We had a wonderful time with both the food and service. Thanks for making the event a success!
