I had my worst experience in Uganda here. The motel is away from central Kampala, and I didn’t feel that guest safety and security were taken seriously. Staff open the security gate without carrying out checks, and after payment they sometimes keep guests’ change. POS machines aren’t used. The room had lots of mosquitoes, and the dirty bed net had large bedbugs inside. The fan only had an on and off switch, the TV had no remote, and its volume control was faulty. There was no AC. There’s no food service, so guests have to find restaurants themselves. There was no water heater, and staff didn’t provide hot water.

After five years of staying here two or three times a year, it’s sad to say I’m moving out and finding somewhere else. I wouldn’t book it now. The impression I got was that a foreclosure may be coming, with the owners trying to recover whatever assets they can. The management seems to be stripping the motel while guests are still staying there. The staff are brilliant at making do with nothing, but they’re all looking for other work. There are no bedside lockers, wardrobes, tables or chairs, including in the breakfast room. I came back after being out for the day and found the TVs and fans had been taken down from every room. The beds are still changed daily, but double beds may be made up with torn or single sheets.

The atmosphere was so quiet and peaceful, and the service was really quick. Best service I’ve had so far. Highly recommend!

Right on the main road.

Customer service is good, and the rooms look nice and are affordable. It’s a fairly good place to stay, especially if you’re traveling, and it’s very close to the main roads.
