We were well looked after, including with all our vegetarian requests. The staff were so friendly and willing to help. It's a great hotel in a very good location, with excellent facilities.

The scenery is beautiful and peaceful, and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed the services at this lovely place. If you love gold, you definitely have to try it.

Set on the shores of Lake.Victoria, the hotel has a wonderfully quiet environment away from the noise of Kampala CBD. The rooms are kept up around the clock, and the friendly service always comes with a smile. You're bound to have a lovely time here.

The internet outage on October 31st was what really ruined my stay. Our apartment block lost connection completely. I had to walk all the way to reception, which is quite far, and a staff member gave me his number and said I could call if it was still down when I got back to my room. When I called, he said it was a general hotel problem and there wasn't much they could do, suggesting I wait until the next day. I had urgent work arranging tickets for our Tanzanian colleagues, whose travel plans had changed because of demonstrations in Dar. With the poor service, I couldn't finish the work until I got home the following day. For a hotel charging these rates, basic reliable internet should be a given. The connection in the restaurant and conference rooms is a joke too, and finding the IT person is another struggle. Check-in was frustrating as well, though I thought those mistakes could be sorted out. I've stayed at many hotels around Uganda, and Serena Kigo was by far my worst experience. Such unreliable internet and poor customer service are a huge disappointment for a five-star hotel.
