There’s a beautiful little jungle area where you can follow a beaten path and immerse yourself in nature. The place also has great lodging, top of the line camping grounds and facilities, and is super affordable for people who enjoy an occasional swimming pool party. It’s tucked on the edge of Kampala, a freesbee throw away from the great lake Victoria and surrounded by high Society accommodations. Just beautiful!

The staff make Red Chilli Hideaway special. From Samuel to Bran, everyone was warm and friendly and genuinely seemed to care about making me feel welcome, which is getting rare. The guesthouse also has a great pool and bar, including a pool bar, that add to the relaxed feel. Reception is always open and ready to help. A comfortable, welcoming place with amazing people.

Of the several lodges we stayed at in Uganda, this was the nicest, though Red chili wasn’t anything special. The basic rooms had mosquito netting and a couple of outlets, shared bathrooms were clean and stocked, and the showers were the best we came across. There’s a nice pool and a reasonably priced bar. Towels cost $5usd each, which is very expensive for the area, so bring your own. The location sucks, far from everything, and the staff were just ok, not very friendly. Still, it was nicer than the other places we stayed in Uganda.

Red Chilli has a great mix of travellers and a cooler vibe than anywhere else in Kampala. Debbie and the team have made a beautiful base for intrepid travellers, with great, affordable rooms and excellent food.

The quiet setting and pool make the trip to Butabika worthwhile, even though it’s a bit far from town. Red Chilli is purpose built and well organized, with a colourful setup and everything budget travellers need. The food is good, the bar is very affordable, and the staff are friendly and well trained. It’s also easy to arrange all kinds of short tours and get travel information once you’re there. Their most popular tour is a safari to Murchison, staying at their famous Red Chilli Backpackers.
