The Athena Hotel

The location in Bugolobi worked perfectly for me. Bandali rise and its upscale clubs are only a short walk away, churches are nearby, food spots are close, and Village Mall is just around the corner. The city centre is a few kilometres away, so you’re near plenty to do without being right in the CBD. The hotel itself is new, pristine, and very well maintained, with exceptionally clean rooms. Everyone was welcoming, from the security guard and reception team to the gentleman who carried my luggage, helped me settle in, and showed me around the room. I also liked the welcome note with my name by the elevator, a unique touch. Breakfast was good, especially the fresh Ugandan fruits, and the meals were well prepared. The restaurant staff were courteous too. This is now one of my favourite places to stay when I travel home, and I absolutely recommend it.

We arrived late for our first visit, but Shantal at reception made us feel at home right away. Simon guided our birthday wine tasting with a lovely mix of knowledge and ease. He was engaging without overdoing it, and his explanations made the tasting feel special but still relaxed, even for those of us who don’t know much wine terminology. The wines seemed carefully chosen, and Chef David’s food paired beautifully with them. Mwesigwa also kindly helped us pack up our food. We had a memorable time and would happily return.

We had a great stay at the Athena Hotel while visiting Uganda, Africa. The food was great, the hotel was very clean, and the staff were excellent and friendly. I’d recommend it if you’re after a great hotel.

I spent nearly two weeks at Athena and had a lovely stay. The rooms were clean, tidy, and safe, and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help or go above and beyond. I’d definitely choose Athena again on my next trip to Kampala. I really have no complaints, except that I’d personally prefer heavier weights in the gym. Thanks again!
