Yellow Haven Lodge

The grounds and pool at Yellow Haven are gorgeous, and I loved spending a relaxed day by the water. I stayed for 12 nights in Sept 2025, and the friendly, accommodating staff and owner Joan made the place feel like home. The restaurant was great too, with so many varied dishes that choosing what to eat each day was hard. I was in the Ross Turaco room, which was spacious and had a small kitchenette and loft style bedroom. The view was perfect, with the sunset rising square over the lake each morning. I had a lovely stay and highly recommend it for both the rooms and restaurant. I’ll stay here again on my next trip to Kampala.

The location is quiet and convenient for Kampala, the views and swimming pool are great, and the food and staff were good. But at $120 a night, my room wasn’t up to standard. There were ants, stained bedcovers, cold water, and a small portable plastic toilet. The towels and sheets were very humid, too. In the "Cave" bedroom, rain was coming into the room. For that price, they need to do better.

The outdoor setting by the lake is lovely, surrounded by nature, and we caught a beautiful sunset at dinner. The staff were so welcoming, including to my dog. The food was just okay, though. My fish and chips were soggy, and my friend’s sweet and sour fish was only okay. Nice place outside, but the food isn’t worth it.

Yellow Haven was a great place to host our project team, which included people from several African and European countries. It’s quiet, with lots of little spots to sit, meet, or relax, and the staff are excellent, friendly, and accommodating. The conference room worked perfectly for our small group of 15-20 people. Even the cat is cool. I’d highly recommend it.
