Bwindi Orugano Lodge

The lodge is only a five-minute drive from the briefing centre, which made it a perfect base. We spent two nights at Orugano on our honeymoon and loved it. Bob helped arrange everything before we arrived, including gorilla and golden monkey trekking. Duncan, our helpful driver and guide, got us safely between Kigali and Bwindi. The views are stunning, the staff are friendly, and the thoughtful details, like flowers on arrival and hot water bottles at turndown, made the stay feel special.

We were sorry to leave after our stay. My husband and I were struck by how beautiful Bwindi Orugano Lodge was as soon as we arrived, and the staff looked after us the whole time. Our room was always clean, the food was outstanding, and they answered our questions promptly. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

The meals were a real highlight, with several choices, including vegetarian options, and everything I ate was exceptional and made to suit my preferences. Coffee, tea, and water were available all day at reception, and there was a water boiler in the room. My spacious room looked out over the valley, and the lodge felt peaceful and relaxing. Nights can be cold, but there were extra blankets and hot water bottles, plus a cosy bonfire each evening. I stayed three nights at Orugano Bwindi Lodge and wanted more time there. The staff went above and beyond, even doing my laundry and cleaning my shoes after gorilla trekking. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Bob gave me several thoughtful ideas at different prices and stayed in touch while he planned a birthday surprise for my dear friend, who was dining at Orugano Lodge. I wasn't staying there myself, but Bob and his team were kind, responsive, and enthusiastic about helping. On the day, he sent photos and a video, so I could share the moment from afar. Seeing how happy my friend was brought me so much joy. I'm grateful to Bob and the staff for making my friend feel celebrated while away from home, friends, and family. Their warmth, generosity, and attention to detail showed me the kind of hospitality they offer. I hope to stay with them when I visit Bwindi someday.
