The clean, comfortable rooms and cozy beds were a plus, but the price didn’t feel justified. There was no WiFi or hot water, cards weren’t accepted, and mobile money came with extra charges. The restaurant had few choices, so we ate elsewhere. Service was helpful, though not generally friendly. We also had confusion over the room price. We were quoted 80,000 for a single room, apparently discounted. As brothers, we usually share to split costs, but the hotel charged per person instead of per room, which we hadn’t encountered elsewhere in East Africa. Since two single rooms cost the same as sharing, we took separate rooms. With the hotel mostly empty, it felt like an effort to raise profits, and we were disappointed, especially in a tourist area. The room had a few more problems: just one usable socket besides the fan plug, a large hole in the mosquito net that didn’t cover the whole bed, a broken lamp, and a fan with no adjustable strength.

It’s easy to get to, right on Arua Road in Pakwach Town, and there’s parking for guests and visitors. The customer care was very good, and the rooms were clean, comfortable and nice, with prices ranging from 50k-150k for middle and high class. Pakwach is known for its heat, but this place has a cool atmosphere and you can spend a natural night here. I liked it, honestly. It’s a good place 👍

From the top of the stairs you get an aerial view of all of Pakwach, including the beautiful Nile river. The hotel is in the heart of this tourism town, right in front of the Gulu-Arua road.

We booked six rooms for our tour group. The staff were nice and very helpful, and arranged breakfast for 6.15am so we could leave early for Murchison Falls Park. Unfortunately, it didn’t arrive until 7.20am, throwing off our morning plans after the good service earlier. Passing trucks can also wake light sleepers.

Winsore is in a good spot for travelers, right by the roadside, so it’s easy to reach and set off again the next day.
