Sipi Backpackers

The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean, but it was Yovan and Maureen who made our three nights at Sipi Backpackers so hard to leave. They took such good care of us, even running to the local shop for cold water in the heat so we’d have some for the ‘taxi’ to Jinja. After Maureen cooked us traditional dinners with so much care, we’d sit around a campfire each night. The location works really well for climbing the falls, and they can arrange it for you. If possible, ask for Samson as your guide.

A short hike, about three minutes, gets you to a hilltop with lovely views of Sipi I and III. I came for two nights and wound up staying six. Maureen and Yovan made me feel at home and helped me connect with everything in Sipi, so there was no need to plan it all ahead. I had a great time and hope to come back soon.

You can see Sipi Falls from the property, and there’s a five-minute trail up to a fantastic viewpoint. The hosts are very welcoming, and breakfast was good. A great place to stay in Sipi.

We had breakfast and dinner here, and both the food and atmosphere were lovely. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the wifi was fast, and our motorcycles were parked safely. There’s a great view from the outdoor seating, and they can arrange tours too. When I ran out of coffee for my Aeropress, they even had a fresh bag of delicious local ground coffee delivered for me. Really friendly people. Highly recommended!
