The Crows Nest - Sipi Falls

We were a group of 11 and rented the 12-person bunk room. The view from the common dining area was absolutely stunning, and the excursions we went on were amazing. But the staff were the best part: so kind, friendly, welcoming, and patient, they made the experience special. Thank you, Ivan and Moses 🩵

We booked a guided hike to the Sipi Falls with one of the staff, and it was really nice. The food was tasty, the staff welcoming, and we had a direct view of the biggest falls. Rooms are simple but very clean, with mosquito nets, and the prices are affordable. We spent two days and nights at the Crows Nest in Sipi. It’s a wonderful place to relax or head out for an adventure, and I can highly recommend this hostel.

The accommodation itself was fine. The staff at the house were super friendly, the food was very tasty, and the view was amazing. The rooms were okay, though it was a bit odd that the bathroom had no sink or light. At €15 per night, you might expect that. The tours were a different story. Despite reading previous reviews about high prices, I thought they might have learned, but he still wanted $35 for the full Sipi Falls hike and another $35 for the coffee tour. Booking elsewhere costs only $15-$20 each. It really felt like a scam, so I’d strongly recommend arranging tours somewhere else.

The view was great, the restaurant good, and Moses was lovely. But watch out for Ivan. He tried to charge us 2-4 times the usual tour prices. We found a guide at the tourism office, where the prices are fixed. At the end of our stay, Ivan bragged about conning other guests and asked us not to tell them the normal prices. We also took a shared taxi from Crows Nest to Kampala, and they wanted 50,000 shillings instead of the usual 35,000. Apparently Ivan had told them to charge us extra in exchange for a commission. Power and hot water were intermittent.
