We arrived by bike tired and hungry, and they got food to us straight away. We’d planned on just one night, but stayed for two and still didn’t feel like leaving. The jungle setting was lovely, and we enjoyed sharing meals with the family, other guests and medical interns. We also took a tour of the hospital, which was really interesting. Daniel and Rachel were very helpful with advice about the country and which routes to take.
This guesthouse is a good place to learn about the community while visiting the gorillas. You can ask Daniel about a hospital tour or a Batwa community tour. The house is connected to a longstanding, well-regarded community hospital project started many years ago by a doctor from California. Volunteer doctors and nurses stay here, and the guesthouse is managed by Daniel, an American who has lived in the community for more than seven years. He’s a keen biker and can help you make the most of your time in Bwindi. We had a spacious, clean double room with a nice filtered hot water shower. You’re surrounded by forest and can hear the stream from the bedroom. Full board is included, and they’re flexible about meal times.
Daniel was accommodating when we made a last minute request to stay at Bwindi Guest House. Our double room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was clean, and the location worked well for gorilla tracking. The staff were friendly and the food was tasty. Excellent stay, I can only recommend it!
The rooms are basic, but they had everything we needed. I liked staying here, inside the private hospital, where you can meet volunteers from around the world. It’s a lovely place near Bwindi Impentetrable Forest for going gorilla trekking.
The shower temperature control was completely off, so finding the right water temperature took longer than the shower itself. That was my only complaint. The staff were the highlight of my two nights at Bwindi guest house. They helped me get to the compound from a town some distance away and with taking part in the gorilla trek. I had great meals throughout the day and lovely company in my free time. My room was big and had all the Western amenities I could have wanted.
