Ruhija Community Rest Camp

It’s very close to Ruhija gate, but I wouldn’t recommend camping here otherwise. The shower water was completely brown, electricity only came on for a short time, and there was no Wi-Fi. They charged more than the price shown on the website, and breakfast arrived very, very late.

Cylia, the manager, made us feel at home and even helped us find a solution when our car broke down. The staff were friendly and helpful, the place was very clean, and the food was great. There’s an amazing view of the surrounding mountains. It’s about a five-minute drive or a 15-minute walk from the Gorilla trekking side. We had a wonderful time. Thank you very much!

The accommodation itself is fine, but what you get doesn’t come close to what you pay. They charge per person: $60 for a room as a solo traveler, but $85 each for my girlfriend and me, or $170 for one room for one night. That includes breakfast and dinner, and I was extremely disappointed by both. Dinner was one chicken leg with rice, and breakfast was just two eggs or chapati. It felt very expensive and still left us hungry. The showers are useless, and the generator only provides electricity from 7 to 9 pm, so there’s no way to fully charge anything.

The place felt like paradise, and they were very accommodating. Thank you!
