Rushaga Gorilla Lodge

The main reason we picked this hotel over the budget options was the pool, but it wasn’t filled while we were there. For us, that meant it didn’t justify the higher price, especially since the budget places we stayed at elsewhere were actually better. The rooms were dated but pleasant, and I really appreciated being offered a hot water bottle at night. Staff were amazing, as they were everywhere we went in Uganda. The food was good, and I enjoyed the cultural singing in the evenings. It’s also perfectly placed for a Gorilla trek, with the headquarters just a few minutes’ drive away.

A nice mid-range lodge, with clean, spacious rooms and bathrooms. Hot water worked well. Breakfast and dinner were really good, though there wasn’t any shampoo in the bathroom.

The forest view was one of the best I’ve ever experienced. The rooms are a bit rustic, but comfortable, and the hot bottles under the sheets added to the stay. The showers were great by Ugandan standards. I stayed one night before Gorilla tracking, and the service was amazing and professional. Manager Mr. Powerman made sure we had a permit for our girl too. Elizabeth at reception looked after us, and Little Richard walked us to the gate and made sure any issues were sorted. Highly recommended.

The gorilla trekking guides were knowledgeable and shared useful insights about the gorillas and their habitat. After a day out, the comfortable, well-appointed rooms made for a restful stay, and the staff went out of their way to help. Meals were delicious and highlighted local flavors. The lodge sits among beautiful scenery, with a serene atmosphere that made the experience feel special. I also appreciated its efforts to limit environmental impact. A stay here comes highly recommended for an unforgettable gorilla trekking trip.
