Madi is a big reason I always look forward to returning. From my very first stay, she’s gone out of her way to make me feel welcome and cared for. She’s warm, professional and attentive to every detail, and always takes extra steps to make sure things are right. You don’t often meet someone who takes such pride in their work and treats every guest with that much kindness and respect. She’s a real credit to the hotel.

The curry was the highlight of my recent meal at Aloft. It was rich and flavourful, with the spice balanced just right, and I could taste that the ingredients were fresh. The dish felt thoughtfully made. The atmosphere was modern and welcoming, and the service was attentive without hovering. I had a great experience from start to finish and would happily come back, especially for that curry. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed this place before, which makes this frustrating. Last time, the air-conditioning was switched to cold when it was minus 1 outside, and we already felt uncomfortable. Now the new discretionary 12.5% service charge has put us off even more. It isn’t clearly pointed out at the till. I know it’s mentioned in several places, including the menu, but places that do this usually tell you as well. Two servers brought over the card machine without saying the price. I only got an explanation after asking why the bill was lower for the same round. I don’t mind a small charge for exemplary service, but here you carry your glasses to the bar and have to order there. What is the charge for, the staff doing their jobs? They don’t even clear the glasses from the table. The way the charge is applied feels presumptuous and grotesque. We’ll rethink where we go for drinks.

Breakfast is well worth having, and the food and drinks are great. The staff are lovely and the service was wonderful. It’s a fabulous hotel in a great location for visiting the p&j. I’d highly recommend it and will definitely stay again. Carrie McIntyre Stayed on 15/11/25
