The place felt unsettling from the start, and it was freezing. Almost everything looked very dated, apart from the bathroom. We were told they didn't have a licence to sell spirits, though there seemed to be plenty behind the bar. They also said we could leave a tip in the wooden box at the end of the bar. At one point we were left there on our own while they took their grandchildren home. We had no idea what to do in an emergency or whether anyone else was around. The next morning, before heading out for the day, I told my husband I wanted to call our next place and ask if we could arrive a day early. Thankfully they said yes. My husband went back to collect our things, but missed a few items in the bathroom. We never heard from the owners by email or phone to ask why we hadn't returned that night. A very strange way to run a business.

We came back late from a wedding and they'd kept the fire going for us, which was lovely. The owners are absolutely lovely too, and breakfast was divine. The whole place feels so cozy that I even nodded off beside the fire in the sitting room. I'm dying to go back. Five stars.

The old house has a lot of history, and hearing about it was a real treat. With all the antiques around, I felt as though I'd stepped into another era, and sleeping in a four-poster bed was a dream come true. The setting is peaceful and country-like, but still makes it easy to get to nearby attractions. Chris and Karolyn were perfect hosts, the food was amazing, and the farm fresh eggs were a lovely surprise. I'd gladly return anytime.

Chris and Karolyn were so hospitable and worked around our changing schedule without any fuss. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay, with a perfect, very clean room. Breakfast was exceptional, with lots of quality food to choose from. I'd thoroughly recommend Disblair House.

Breakfast was fantastic, and we were very comfortable throughout our stay. Disblair House Hotel has a lot of history and character, and the lodgings were excellent. It's a spectacular hotel run by a lovely couple. Highly recommend it for a quiet stay near Aberdeen.
