Terra Nova Hotel

The room was spacious and really quiet, and I was very happy with it. The price I got was a bargain, especially for a night out in Aberdeen, and I’d definitely come back. There was a fridge and microwave, which I don’t often find on trips around Scotland, plus tea, coffee, milk and bathroom products. The hotel is in the city centre, just off Union Street, and about a nine minute walk from Union Square and the train and bus stations. The online booking was easy, but arriving wasn’t: the main door was locked and I wasn’t sure how to get in or check in. A notice gave a number to call, but the hotel’s phone message said it was closed for the day. Luckily I spotted another leaflet for a different hotel with a mobile number under the same person’s name. Once I got through, checking in was quick and simple.

Clean rooms, lovely facilities and good value. Having a shared kitchen is a big plus too. 👍

I stayed for two nights and found the room very clean. It had loads of facilities: heating, towels, a microwave, dryer, plates and cutlery, a TV, kettle and mini fridge, along with bathroom gel, towels and a humidifier. There’s also a kitchen in the basement that all guests can use. The price was affordable compared with nearby places. This is an honest account of my stay, 25-27 Feb.

A nice hot shower, toiletries, an extra blanket, hairdryer, Fairtrade tea and sugar, and biscuits were all provided. The room was clean, warm and cosy, with a microwave, plate and cutlery, and a mini fridge. The owners clearly care about making guests comfortable, even though they call it a no frills guesthouse. I found it easy to locate, close to the train and bus stations, and felt safe travelling alone. The room and guesthouse used secure code and key box details sent by email beforehand, so self check-in was quick, and there was a chain on the room door. It was great value, and after I left my charger behind, the owner called that same day and offered to post it when I couldn’t return to collect it. I’d stay again.
