The spa treatments and massages left me completely relaxed, and I walked out feeling like jelly. Huge thanks to Rachel, my neck is 100% better now. Michelle also refunded the spa day payment after I realised it was already included with my room. The spa, heated pool and relaxation package were all great, even in winter, and access was included with the room. I had a wonderful weekend at this beautiful hotel. The staff were kind, friendly and attentive, and parking was excellent. The Classic room was cosy and warm, with a clean, beautiful private bathroom and an amazing shower. I’m a tea lover and found the English breakfast teabags weak, though the peppermint tea was delicious. I’d bring Yorkshire teabags next time. There were nice extras: a free glass of white wine on arrival between 4pm and 5pm, plus free fruit and a pantry stocked with biscuits, sweets, chocolate and crisps. Breakfast was delicious, with a good selection. Ask for fried or poached eggs if you want them, as they’re cooked fresh. Lunch and dinner were good too, and they know how to cook a juicy steak. The burger was good as well. This place exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to stay again. I recommend it for a weekend in the countryside.

We loved it here and can’t wait to come back. It was just the retreat I needed for a short break, with beautiful decor, attentive and friendly staff, and a gorgeous spa. There were lots of treats included, which was a lovely touch. The menu was great and the food delicious.

The gestures for guests were lovely, especially the 4.00pm pour and 9.00pm Madeira nightcaps. My wife and I had a very enjoyable three nights at the Alfriston, and we’ll definitely return. The hotel and its setting feel stylish and relaxing, our heritage room was very comfortable, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We also liked the spa, and the food and drink were tasty and plentiful. A gym, an indoor jacuzzi and fridges in the rooms would make it perfect. Looking forward to another stay.

The pool, sauna, steam room and relaxation area are lovely. Staff were all really kind and attentive, and generous with their time. The hotel is a good starting point for the South Downs Way, and Alfriston is a cute town to wander around. I liked the paintwork throughout, and the rooms were nice, though the pillows could do with being feather or down. The food is why I’ve given three stars. Honestly, neither dinner nor breakfast was what I expected from somewhere like this.

We picked The Alfriston for a two day internal off-site and everything ran smoothly. The setting is idyllic, the food was consistently excellent, and the hotel made it easy to get productive work done while still feeling like a relaxing retreat. Everyone in our group commented on the outstanding service and how welcoming and helpful the whole team was. Caroline, the Sales & Events Manager, made a great impression from our first contact with her. She was professional, responsive and attentive to details. When we decided to go for a walk, she even printed a map for us. Sarah at reception and the bar and restaurant teams were just as helpful. The manager topped off the stay by personally giving one of our group a lift home, an unexpected gesture that summed up the care we received. We’d happily return and highly recommend The Alfriston for corporate off-sites or team getaways.
