The Royale Chulan Hyde Park Hotel London

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the location is amazing. If you're planning to be out all day and just come back to sleep, this place is perfect. The room was on the small side but had everything you'd need, and the view was pretty if that matters to you. The bathroom was clean, though it had a slight odd smell. The shower is a tight squeeze if you're a larger person.

The area is nice, the staff were pleasant, and it's just a short walk to Bayswater's metro. The room, unfortunately, was a real letdown. We were put in an underground room that was dusty, even the duvet and pillowcases. The air felt stuffy and smelled bad, but with freezing weather outside we couldn't leave the window open for more than a couple of minutes. The bathroom was so cramped that we kept banging our elbows on the shower walls, and we're two small girls. Really, it's the little details.

The room was tidy and clean, and the location is pretty good. It's about a ten-minute walk to a Malaysian restaurant. I couldn't sleep because of noise at night, and it carried on in the morning too. I also have a complaint about the toilet: the shower heater wasn't working properly. Imagine having to shower with cold water in autumn or winter.

Sam greeted me when I arrived from Dublin, and was so nice. Saakya had been really helpful when I called reservations, and I was pleased to meet her too. She arranged a lovely single room with two big windows overlooking the front balcony, a tidy kitchenette, a desk and a comfortable bed. I love this hotel. Queensway is lively and just a five-minute walk away, with good pubs, interesting restaurants, lots of shops and coffee houses. Bayswater tube station is nearby, with Circle and District lines that take you everywhere. I already booked another stay and hope to make this my London base.
