Head Chef Charles Lakin's seasonally inspired and locally sourced menus are as fresh as they are imaginative, and the elegant 21st century styling is exceptional. The rooms are nice, and the mattress was lovely. I’d come back for a meal, though I’d need someone else to drive since there aren’t any other pubs nearby. The pub and restaurant have a cosy feel, with a couple of log burners and a quirky layout. The food was excellent, the staff friendly, and there are pleasant views from the windows above the busy main road. Parking’s on site. The location is decent, but I found the surrounding countryside a bit disappointing.

Sam made our stay especially memorable with his warmth, attention to detail, and professionalism. The whole team was brilliant, and the hospitality felt genuinely welcoming. My wife and I came for a much-needed break, and the accommodation was comfortable and beautifully kept. The food was outstanding too. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Marquis of Granby and will definitely return. Highly recommended for a relaxing break with great food and service.

Dinner and breakfast were both exceptional, and the staff were friendly. We stayed here while visiting Dover and celebrating our birthday and anniversary. The accommodation was brilliant, and we’d love to come back :)

We come back regularly because the Alkham Valley location has a lovely feel, and the food and service are always good. This time the halibut was delicious too. Recommended.

Kent is easy to explore from this great location. I was lucky enough to visit while the menus were changing, and both were wonderful, truly delicious meals. The chef deserves all the accolades. A terrific stay and a real treasure. Highly recommend.
