Victorian House Hotel

We stayed four nights in different places while touring the Lake District, and this was easily our favourite. Our upper-floor "Stargazer" room was nicely decorated, with a large window facing the village and mountains. Breakfast in the bright, beautiful first-floor dining room was a pleasure, and we were lucky to get one of the hotel’s couple of parking spots around the back. The location is very central, and we enjoyed walking around the beautiful town of Grasmere. There’s no elevator, though the staff kindly carried our luggage up, and it didn’t affect our stay. If we return to Grasmere, this is the only place we’d choose.

We had a lovely night here with our dog. Everyone was super friendly, especially the woman whose name I can’t remember, sorry, she was fabulous and went the extra mile. Breakfast was very nice and the whole place felt clean. We’d stay again.

Grasmere is perfectly located here, away from some of the Windermere and Ambleside crowds but still central for getting to Langdale Valley and Thirlmere. Caitlin welcomed us warmly and gave us great suggestions for nearby food, a pint or somewhere to explore. Breakfast was made to order with a great choice, plus a buffet, and Susan and her team kept our beautiful room spotless every day. We had a wonderful stay at the Victorian House Hotel. If you want a lovely B&B with a touch of luxury while ticking off Wainwrights, this is the place. Thanks for making our stay so special!

Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. The house was beautifully decorated, and the rooms were warm and comfortable. All the staff we met were so friendly, and breakfast had lots of choice, with a delicious full English. We had a wonderful stay in the heart of Grasmere. Thank you for having us.
