A lovely pub, and a terrific find. The food was wonderful, with generous portions. My calves’ liver came thick cut and pink as I’d ordered it, with crispy bacon and rich, glossy onion gravy. The seasonal vegetables were fresh, and there was a surprisingly good selection. My husband’s mixed game casserole was just as delicious. Compliments to the chef!

Our room was peaceful and spacious, spotlessly clean, with a comfy bed, cosy bedding, a generous tea and coffee tray, and a hot, powerful shower. We had dinner, joined the weekly quiz and stayed one night with breakfast. Everything we ate was excellent in both quality and quantity, and we were given a warm, friendly welcome. It’s a delightful dog friendly inn in a beautiful setting. We loved our stay.

We came back for three nights between Christmas and New Year while visiting local sights and people. The location is great, and it’s clearly a popular place, so booking is recommended. The food and service were excellent, and it was nice chatting with the Landlord over breakfast when things were a bit quieter. The bathroom in our room had recently been refurbished.

We went for lunch today and liked the service, menu, atmosphere and warm welcome you’d expect from a traditional British country Inn. We didn’t stay overnight, just had a meal, but we’ll return to try other things on the menu. Next time we’ll have dinner and stay too. Thanks to the staff at Hatchet.
