We had Sunday lunch here, with roast lamb and fish of the day. Both were hot, cooked as requested and generous portions. We could easily have eaten them again if we’d had room. I enjoyed the cheeseboard, and the desserts looked good. Afterwards, we sat in the lovely garden with coffee. The restaurant is cozy and nicely presented. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and let us choose a seat where we’d be comfortable instead of deciding for us. It’s not the cheapest place, but what you get is good value. A welcome stand would help guests know where to wait to be seated. A lovely, dog-friendly pub with great food, atmosphere and service.

The room at the Jack Russell Inn was so comfortable and clean, and staying there felt like a real treat. We had a lovely time, with delicious dinner and breakfast. I’d mentioned in the booking that it was my partner’s birthday, and they kindly brought us a special birthday dessert. The setting looked lovely too, with a pond and deer out front and farm fields behind.

Such a cozy, comfortable place, and clearly set up with dogs in mind. The service was impeccable, and the Pork Belly roast was exceptional. It’s probably the best Sunday roast I’ve had in a pub. Great work, team, and compliments to the chef or chefs.

We’ve stayed here three times now, and the Great Dane is a wonderful, luxurious room. The surroundings are beautiful, and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. Looking forward to seeing you again next year.

I’ve eaten here several times and it’s never let me down, but today was exceptional. The marmite butter maltloaf starter and chateaubriand were both 10/10. I’ve spent years looking for a good banoffee dessert, and the banoffee cheesecake absolutely delivered. Maybe the best I’ve ever had. Thanks for a great NYE dinner. See you in 2026, and please don’t take that cheesecake off the menu, it’s unreal!
