The breakfast was delicious, with plenty to choose from, and the shared room with its cabinet of whiskies, gins and rums was a fun touch. You can pour yourself a drink and note it down to pay for at breakfast, though we found the prices a little high, perhaps compared with Dutch prices in particular. We spent one night here while travelling through Scotland. The B&B sits just outside the lovely town of Anstruther, with beautiful countryside views. Mark and Jennifer gave us a warm welcome. The house was spotless and nicely decorated, and our room had a big bed and a separate bathroom. It made for a great start to our holiday road trip around Scotland.

Jenni and Mark made us feel so welcome, and we had a wonderful stay at Spindrift. The rooms are furnished with care, and breakfast was the best and most varied we had on our whole trip. The sea is only five minutes away. Thanks for such a lovely time!

The owners were so friendly, and breakfast was amazing. This lovely B&B is in a big Victorian house and made a perfect base for exploring the East Neuk of Fife.

The breakfast itself was nice, but the dining arrangements left us feeling unwelcome. My wife was asked twice to move her chair forward so other guests could reach things behind her. They could have moved us to another table or shifted the tables around instead. We were also told not to take scones out of the dining room, even though we'd paid for breakfast, because it would be against the law. The attic room was pleasant enough, but it felt expensive for a room where we had to carry a heavy suitcase upstairs. The view was nice if you're tall, but anyone over six feet could hit their head on the sloped ceiling getting into bed. The honesty bar was a nice idea, though overpriced. We were surprised and shocked to see safari photo books showing dead animals, possibly killed by our South African hosts. The hosts were reasonably friendly, but the stay wasn't as good as they seemed to think. When guests came into the dining room, they'd ask everyone, “The beds were great, weren't they?”

We stayed in the unusual Captain's cabin at the very top of the house, looking out over the harbor. It was panelled and trimmed with brass like a ship's cabin, and we were told the house's original owner, a sea captain, used to watch for his ships from there. Whichever room you're in, take a quiet moment in the lovely Back Garden. I shared a bird's-eye photo, though it can't show all the care put into the place. Jennie and Mark are outstanding hosts. From the first meeting, it felt like we'd known them for ages. They made time to chat and helped us feel at home. The house is full of thoughtful details, from the delicious breakfast and bespoke table settings to the comfortable accommodation. When we're back in this part of Scotland, we'll use it as our base again.
