Amberley Castle

The five-course tasting menu was a real highlight, beautifully presented and delicious, and breakfast had plenty of choice. My husband said the black pudding was the best he’d tasted. Our daughter gave us the stay at Amberley Castle as a birthday treat for her dad, and it turned out to be a treat for both of us. We enjoyed wandering around the pretty village of Amberley and the well-kept grounds. Our room was clean, comfortably furnished in keeping with the castle, and had a very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and quick to bring fresh milk to the room when we ordered it. Thanks to everyone at Amberley Castle for making the visit memorable.

I only wish we'd had longer there. The Amberley room was roomy but still cosy, especially with its lovely open fire. The castle is beautiful, and the staff were so welcoming and wonderful that I felt like part of the family.

On our second visit, we had the tasting menu and wine flight, served by friendly, efficient staff. A large function meant we couldn't dine in the big hall, though the smaller room was nice. Our room was perfect, with soft fluffy towels and toiletries.

The Winchelsea room was spotless and kept to a high standard, with modern bathroom fittings and fresh decor. Dinner was a pleasure too, with food that deserved praise for both quality and presentation. We returned to AC after several years and found the team warm, attentive and helpful, even on a very quiet Monday evening. Everyone made us feel welcome, and we plan to come back. Thanks to the chef and the whole AC team.
