Premier Inn Ashington

Snow falling over the lake made for a really picturesque stay, and the bed was very comfortable. We paid £73 for two nights in January 2026, which felt like great value. The room itself was a bit dated, but clean and comfortable, as you’d expect from a Premier Inn. Breakfast was good too. The old photos showing a playground outside the restaurant next door are out of date. That playground is gone; there’s soft play inside the restaurant now. It’s a little worn, but kept the kids busy for an hour after breakfast.

There’s a country park and lake right in front, with ducks, geese, and swans, and it’s a great base for getting out and about. Morpeth is a short drive away, and Cragside took us about 40 minutes to reach. The rooms were clean and cosy, with really comfortable beds, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food at the Cookhouse next door, especially with so many vegetarian choices. I’d happily come back.

The setting was peaceful, easy to find, and handy for local attractions and scenic walks. Parking was free and convenient, too. Inside, my room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, with a great bed. The staff made me feel welcome throughout my visit and were genuinely friendly. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, with plenty available and good vegetarian options. I had a fantastic stay at the Premier Inn Ashington and would gladly return. The quality and service exceeded what I expected, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Helen was fantastic when she checked us in. She’d warned us breakfast would be very busy because several schools were on holiday and the buffet was open to both hotel guests and the public. It was easy to reach on our journey, and getting back on the road the next day was straightforward. This is a busy, out-of-town Premier Inn, basic but clean and much as expected. I’d stay again if I was in the area, though I’d probably skip breakfast.
