West Lodge

We were greeted warmly, and everything from booking through check-in was straightforward and efficient. The service and breakfast were both outstanding. Our room was clean and comfortable, though honestly it could use updating throughout, especially the bathroom.

The garden room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We visited in November, and the garden was still lovely. I can imagine staying in one of these rooms in summer would be amazing. The owners offered great hospitality, and breakfast was great too. The hotel is in a nice area, with a park nearby and good pubs. We’d stayed here before when dropping our son off for his 10-week basic training in the RAF, and came back for his graduation. A really good experience.

That freshly cooked breakfast in the garden room is a real highlight, and I love the murals on the walls. I’ve stayed at West Lodge many times, and Julie and Mike are always welcoming and helpful. The place feels like a beautiful country cottage, with a gorgeous garden at the back where you can sit with a glass of wine or a pot of tea. There’s a pretty pond, a wooden pavilion, and lots of leafy little spots to relax. A real oasis if you’re looking for charm and thoughtful care.
