The Kings Arms

The Kings Arms really feels like what a British pub should be. The atmosphere was lovely, and the new owners were friendly and hands-on. Staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, and it's probably one of the most dog-friendly pubs we've ever stayed at. The food and beer selection were excellent and good value.

Breakfast was excellent, with decent food at fair prices, and they have parking too. It's a beautiful country pub, with warm, welcoming front-of-house staff. Being dog friendly matters a lot to us. I haven't seen the rooms, as I've only been in for breakfast, but I'd absolutely recommend it as a new go-to breakfast spot.

When breakfast finally came, the wait was an hour, the food was poor, and the orders were wrong. My parents had also overheard staff complaining about work that morning and saying the chef wasn't there, so they'd need to find a replacement soon for breakfast. The night before, a huge party carried on until 12.30pm, which kept them from sleeping. I booked this as a surprise night away for my parents because I liked the modern rooms and horse pictures. Instead, they got what was probably the most outdated room imaginable. The website only shows photos of the modern rooms, and I wouldn't have booked if I'd known they'd be given a crap room for such a high fee. The whole thing was a shambles, and I'll be asking for a refund.

A few friends and I came across this pub while exploring the Cotswolds and had a fantastic meal. The place was wonderful, and the staff were very hospitable. They even put up with our Australian sense of humour. Would highly recommend!
