The food is excellent, nicely presented and reasonably priced, and breakfast had lots of choice with generous helpings. Tim works hard to make breakfast guests happy. I was also able to park in the car park each night, keeping the car off the road. I was in Banbury for five days on a business trip, and choosing Cromwell Lodge was definitely the right call. The staff were friendly from the moment I arrived. Margi and Lizzie always welcomed me back and were happy to chat about me, my work and my day. They suggested places to eat, including a couple I might be better off avoiding, and never pushed me to dine at the hotel. The building has plenty of character. My front-facing room had a slightly uneven floor and creaky boards, as you get in old buildings, but I didn't mind. Road noise wasn't an issue at night, and although the fair had just started, I didn't hear it either, probably because the rides near the children's area closed early. I'll stay here again next time I'm in Banbury.

We'd forgotten to book the Christmas dinner option for our Christmas meal, but the staff managed to sort it out for us anyway 😱. I was really impressed: the meal was far better than merely adequate, with tasty food in good-sized portions. The peas were perhaps the one less flavoursome thing. Emma looked after us, so a big thank you to her 👍🫶.

We booked a table for drinks while visiting the Christmas tractor run with friends and their toddler. They put us in a small side room with a Christmas tree and lots of toy boxes, and the two-year-old nearly had to be dragged away to go see the tractors! The staff were attentive and helpful, and helped make the evening. I hope they get to enjoy the Christmas period too. It was my first visit, but it won't be my last. Thank you.

Our office Christmas meal at the Cromwell on Thursday 11th was a great night out. Everyone in our group had a different dish, and all the comments were positive. The food was tasty, nicely presented, hot and served in generous portions. We were comfortable and cozy, too. Full five stars, and compliments to the chef and all the staff. Highly recommended.
