It's only two minutes from the lake, and the owner was on hand with friendly advice about what to see and do nearby. We stayed for a long weekend before Christmas, when the dark winter evenings made the cosy, welcoming place especially nice. It was lovely to deal with a real person instead of just a code and key box. A wonderful place all round.

We arrived two hours before check-in, but our hosts let us into the rooms anyway. After checkout, they also kept our bags until our train was due. Breakfast was delicious and filling, and the accommodation itself was quaint, cute and comfortable. Such hospitable, helpful hosts. We had a wonderful stay.

Maureen even packed us a tasty lunch to take along when we had to leave before 7am on our last morning. It came in handy on the train journey from Manchester to Brussels. The owners, Maureen and Lewis, were kind and shared useful tips about places to see. We loved breakfast, and later in the morning enjoyed tea while relaxing in the beautiful garden. The spotless rooms were serviced daily, and the guest house is well placed for pubs, restaurants, shops and markets. Bowness, where you catch the sailings, is a pleasant 25-minute walk away. It felt like being welcomed into a warm home rather than having a typical hotel stay.

Maureen gave us a parking permit for long-stay sites around the area, including one very close to the house, which helped since parking can be tricky to find. There are pubs, restaurants and supermarkets nearby, and the B&B is well located in town. She also kept the tea coming while we sat in the front garden. The hosts are responsive and go out of their way to look after you. The place was comfortable, quiet and spotless. Breakfast was tasty, with choices from a full English to vegetarian. I missed having a sitting room, though. Beech House brought back the sort of English holiday I grew up with.

The cute dining room and quiet surroundings made this a lovely stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and the host was kind and helpful. It's a good location, about a 10-minute walk from the railway station. I'd recommend it to friends, and it was worth my first Google Maps rating. Thank you so much!
