We were a little unsure at first because we're used to staying with well known hotel chains, but there was nothing to worry about. The hotel is beautiful, and the lovely couple who run it took time to chat and share lots of tips. Our bedroom was clean, with traditional decor and strong wifi, which is always a must. The bathroom was the best part. After long, strenuous walks, you have to enjoy a bath, and there's also a rain shower, which I love. There was plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits and hot chocolate in the room. The whole hotel was tidy and very clean. They checked our temperature, had hand sanitiser available, and I often saw the cleaners working. We had breakfast on our last day for 7.50 each, and it was brilliant. It's changed my mind about holidaying in our beautiful country and staying in family owned accommodation. It was an absolute pleasure, and I hope to stay again soon. I forgot to mention that direct bookings get better rates than booking.com and similar sites. I wish I'd known before booking!

The staff were superb, cheerful and interested in the guests. We spent three delightful nights here, and it felt friendly, like a home from home. Our room was quiet and comfortable, with good amenities. Breakfast wasn't included, but was worth paying extra for, with tasty locally sourced ingredients. We also enjoyed the good value honesty bar in the guest lounge. We'd highly recommend the place and will return.

The view from our room window was lovely, and The Willowsmere made a great base for exploring places nearby, whether on foot or by car. We really enjoyed our stay. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful, the room was lovely, and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and made with good quality ingredients. We'd happily come back and recommend it to others.

We felt welcome as soon as we arrived, and the hospitality stayed excellent throughout. The room had a regal feel with modern touches, especially in the bathroom. A lovely quiet place for couples. We'd recommend it.

Our room had antique furniture and a four-poster bed, with a fully updated bathroom. There was complimentary squash and toddy to enjoy in the room, too. The hotel was beautiful, and breakfast was excellent!
