Finding the car park was a nightmare, and it cost money. We were told £19, but it was actually £10, which was a nice surprise, though the staff seemed unsure what to do and that made me uncomfortable. The parking payment also went to an account different from the hotel's. The rooms weren’t very clean, and the whole place, including the outdoor area, felt a bit ropey. Staff were okay, but they wanted cash for everything. We had to pay a deposit up front, then got it back without anyone checking the room, which struck me as very odd. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again.

The rooms were reasonably decent for a three-star hotel, and I did appreciate being close to the shops. Still, there are lots of better hotels nearby, though I expect there are worse ones too. The shower was covered in limescale, didn’t work properly, and flooded the room. I expected a proper cupboard, not a wooden box with a hanger above the bedside. We also had to wait ten minutes for a staff member because nobody was there.

The shower worked, and that was the only redeeming thing about the place. The beds were rickety iron bedsteads, like something from a 1950s army barracks, and there were no tea or coffee facilities in the room, in 2025. The bathroom was small, its window wouldn’t open, and the extractor fan stopped with the light instead of running on for five minutes. The damp smell and feeling spread into the bedroom. At reception, I was told they had to photocopy my driving licence because it was hotel policy. I’m a British citizen and don’t mind showing ID, but I don’t understand why they need to keep it or what they’ll do with the information. I have no idea how Google rates this as a '3-star hotel'. It’s the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Don’t expect comfort, it’s suitable for budget use only.

The only upside was how close it was to the train station. The bed was broken, the bathroom tiles were cracked and easy to trip on, and the sink wasn’t attached to the wall. The shower door was broken and wouldn’t close, and there was no hot water. The shared kitchen was a mess. I won’t stay here again.

The rooms were horrible, with old bathrooms and a really bad smell. It seemed like someone had smoked in the room and they’d tried to cover it with perfume, but that made the smell even worse. I couldn’t even open the window.
