Min-Y-Mor Hotel

September 2025 We stayed six days at Min-Y-Mor, just outside the busy town, and it was a pleasure to be away from the tourist hustle. The room was clean and well serviced, and all the staff were helpful. Booking directly by phone meant our price included a lovely cooked breakfast. There's a large parking area, and the front lawn is only yards from the beach, with plenty of tables and benches. This must be the best located hotel in Barmouth.

The food is worth recommending, and the service was good. Rooms are basic but clean and well maintained. Great location, and definitely worth coming back for.

We'd hoped to make this a regular break, but we won't be returning. We stayed in room 6, and the squeaky floorboards in the room above woke us at 4am and again at 7am. That's not the other guests' fault, but I doubt I'm the first to mention it, so be ready for a disturbed night in room 6 on a busy weekend. Breakfast was another problem. There wasn't a dog-friendly table ready because they said we hadn't told them about our dog. I find that hard to believe: we mentioned it when booking, and the man at check-in said we'd have breakfast in the bar area because of the dog. At checkout, the balance should have been £65, but the invoice showed £75. On the phone I'd been told £130 in total, and they said there was no note on the record about our dog. Do dog owners normally turn up without telling the hotel? I certainly haven't done that before. I was charged £10 extra. It wasn't the extra cost itself that bothered me, but we'd definitely told them about the dog and been given the total, and no one even apologized. Such a shame, especially since we'd had a lovely time here 3 years ago.

FRUIT SHOOT WARNING: If your kids went here this bank holiday or recently and became very ill, it MIGHT be because some of their fruit shoots had been dropped and the tops exposed. I shake bottles to bring the flavours up, and when I opened one, the contents popped out. Inside, there was white tadpole-like stuff, which looked like mould. You'd think they'd offer something for letting them know, or have me come back to exchange it, but all I got was a sorry. They didn't even seem to report it right away or check any stock.
