Our June stay was booked last September, but six weeks before we were due to arrive, the owner called to cancel. He said a BAE booking for three months had come in. At first he made a big point about his salaries supporting eight families and said it was beyond his control, though later he admitted it was simply a financial decision. We were meant to be in Barrow for Dave Day, when all the accommodation was already booked. We eventually found somewhere outside town, which costs more and means we’ll need taxis. Those were hard to find last year, too. There was no offer of compensation, help with a taxi, or donation to the Dave Day charities, even though the new booking was clearly a much better deal for him. Awful service. Avoid if you don’t want your booking cancelled. I’d give zero stars if I could.

Louise was so helpful when we got lost, and again when the hot water stopped working at 9pm and my 12-year-old wanted a bath. She did everything she could to sort it out. We stayed one night at Abbey apartments with my three young children, and it felt like home. The apartment was clean, tidy, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We’ll definitely come back. Canceling bookings so you can charge more for Dave Day is disgusting. A quarter of a million people already know what you’ve done, and that number is rising fast. Feel proud now, taking advantage of the death of the nicest man ever to live? 😡 Avoid at all costs.

We had booked for daves day, but this company cancelled on us last night, claiming they had a four-month group booking. It’s only full for daves weekend. Seems like they’re after more money. Don’t book with this person.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional, and the train station and shops are easy to reach on foot. I stayed in the two-bed top-floor flat and would book it again. It was modern, clean, and cosy, with the feel of home. I was so comfortable I overslept. Everything you need is there, and the kitchen has recently been renovated.
