Maritime Apartments

The year ended with me refusing to stay there any longer. I’d been moved between apartments while working in Barrow, with one problem after another: repairs done badly, arriving to find no room or someone else in it, and faults I eventually stopped reporting. My sleep was disrupted, and the cleanliness on arrival was unacceptable.

I’m now in the middle of legal proceedings over their claim, and I believe they’re trying to rip me off. I paid in full for a stay with a colleague more than a year ago, but 12 months later they said there was no record of payment and threatened debt collectors. At the time, they moved us after I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The apartment was below a reasonable living standard, with rat droppings in the kitchen, broken windows letting in drafts, and faulty heating. They’ll try to charge you twice, so avoid them. They’re not accommodation, they’re professional thieves. Do not stay with them.

We arrived late on the day of our stay to find we couldn’t get into the property with the passcode. The host had cancelled that morning without telling us and kept our money. We were left stranded. I wouldn’t trust them.

The flat wasn’t too bad, but the parking was a problem from the start. The booking said FREE PARKING!!!, yet there was none, and we got fined near the building where there were no parking signs. Staff brushed us off and said we should have been more vigilant. A cleaner also came in at 10am, before the 11am checkout, then stuttered and fumbled around for a minute before leaving. Outside, people were constantly shouting and arguing, with local dafties hanging around. Avoid this place.
