Premier Inn Basingstoke West

The staff member at reception was kind and understanding when I explained my allergy and the state of the room. He moved us to another one, which was definitely better, though it still smelled strange. I appreciate his help, but I was very disappointed by the first room and wouldn’t stay here again after this experience. At first the room seemed okay, but we soon noticed dirty-looking carpet that didn’t seem properly vacuumed, filthy walls and a really unpleasant smell. The bathroom was worst. I have a severe allergy to penicillin, and black mould covered the ceiling. The soap dispensers were rusty too. After my partner showered, a very strong smell developed, and I noticed the mould properly. It was vile and made me very uncomfortable. I was close to packing up and going home because I couldn’t sleep. Mould and cleanliness problems like that should never have been there.

Parking was easy, and the location made getting in and out of Basingstoke straightforward. Staff were friendly and polite, and check-in felt calm and organised. The room was very clean, quiet and well kept, with a really comfortable bed where I slept well after a long day driving and working. For the price, I got the comfort, cleanliness and peace of mind I needed. I’d happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting the area. I stayed at Premier Inn Basingstoke West recently and had a very smooth, comfortable visit.

The location is good, and the adjacent Beefeater was excellent, with attentive staff and plenty of local customers. The front desk team were helpful in sorting things out, and we eventually got a peaceful night’s sleep after they replaced the TV remote batteries and brought a temporary radiator to warm the room. Still, as someone who’s used Premier Inn for years for both work and holidays, this site fell well below what I’m used to. The bedding felt damp, the room smelled musty, and the electric heater was faulty and rusty, with some questionable staining. The bathroom extractor couldn’t handle the shower steam, which may have added to the damp feel, and the carpets looked like they needed a proper vacuum.

Service was great when we arrived, but I barely slept. Local car enthusiasts seemed to meet very near the accommodation and kept testing their exhaust noise until after 02:30. Then maintenance drilling started at 09:00, so I was up in time for Sunday breakfast.
