There’s parking for six cars in the hotel’s nearby car park, which is why we chose to stay here. You do need to book a space. The train station is just across the road, and Bath is an easy walk away. The building is historic and full of character. Our bedroom was clean and tidy. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We enjoyed excellent evening meals on both nights, and breakfast had a good range of cooked options, including pancakes. We’d stay again.

The Boxing Day coach trip was a lovely extra from the hotel. We missed it when we stayed four years ago because of Covid, so it was great to go this time. The guide was funny and informative. Our room had everything we needed and more, and the staff were polite throughout. Angela at reception was especially kind, as were the restaurant team and the bartender, whose name I’m sorry I didn’t catch. The food was plentiful and superb. On Christmas Day, the gap between starter and main was a bit long, though the meal was worth the wait. Thanks to everyone who worked over Christmas and looked after us. We hope to return sometime in 2026.

The location was really handy, right across from the train station, and staff kept our bags while we explored on our departure day. We spoke with at least five people at the front desk, and every one was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was better and more affordable than at most other places.

Reception and the dining room were beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the hotel is right across from the railway station. Our room on the top floor was clean and warm, with tea, coffee, biscuits, and a chocolate, though the floorboards creaked a lot. The rooms are a bit dated, and the old building could use some TLC. In the bathroom there was no fan or way to open the window, which was my main issue. The bar was good and our evening meal was fine. I’d stay again.

The friendly, professional staff were helpful, and the breakfast was hearty. I liked the proper tea service, with a teapot and strainer. Our large double had comfortable bedding, including Merino wool blankets, goose feather pillows, and Egyptian cotton linens. It also had a flat-screen TV, iPod dock, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee facilities. The traditional decor looks dated in places and shows wear, which seems reflected in the price. The location is excellent for exploring Bath. The Royal Hotel sits opposite Bath Spa train station, with the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and other sights a short walk away. It’s a Grade II listed Victorian building designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, with plenty of historic character, cosy lounges, and a Parisian-style brasserie. We stayed over a weekend with family. The hotel has 24-hour reception, room service, and luggage storage. There can be noise from nearby transport and people leaving nightclubs.
