The pie of the day at The knife and Cleaver was superb, and the team looked after us wonderfully. We went today with our little baby, and found the atmosphere just right, lively but still relaxing. If you're after a proper English pub in Bedford, this is the place. Having a gorgeous 4 months old baby probably does soften up any social interaction, of course.

We've been here before, and this return visit was another lovely meal for our party of five. The food was delicious and good value, and the service was excellent. The calm, inviting surroundings made it a nice place to spend time, and the large car park made parking easy. We'd definitely recommend it.

This was our sixth visit to The Knife & Cleaver, where my partner and I come for a little getaway. We keep finding reasons to return. The staff are always friendly, and the room was lovely and comfortable for a relaxing break. Dinner was a three-course meal cooked by Gary, and my fish and chips were spot on. Gary came out to say hello, which was a nice touch, and Manager Sue made us feel welcome too. Afterwards, Acer made some cracking cocktails for my partner. Between the drinks, the easy banter at the bar and the friendly service, it felt like we were among friends. The whole team works together so naturally, which really adds to the stay. We'll be back. If you're having a spa day at Woburn, I'd recommend finishing it with a stay here. Thanks to the whole team, you're a crazy, brilliant bunch. See you soon!

The new chef was good and spoke with the customers, so it's clear they want to get things right. The food was very good, and the personal service was excellent once we'd been welcomed. They might need another staff member, especially when it's busy.

We came to this lovely pub for Valentine's Day, and Kylie, I think that was her name, the waitress in the stripey shirt, was really friendly and prompt even though it was busy. Thanks for a lovely evening!
